I know I’ve been pretty slack in keeping up with this blog. It seems it’s easier to tweet about whats going on. Plus we’re on Facebook too… you can make us your Fan and we’ll love you even more!
Phone call w New York
This morning I had a phone call with the Australian Austrade office in New York city… pretty cool. 7pm their time and 9am on the Gold Coast we were chatting about a certain NYC potential client eyeing the Kahuna Bay jewellery collection. So in between my morning coffee there were a couple smiles :-)
Australian Fashion Week… see you next year
I made a tough choice this week not to attend Australian Fashion Week in Sydney at the end of the month. I was going to represent Kahuna Bay with my gorgeous gal pal Bec Cooper, designer and owner of the Mr.Julius label. It was just a mad push and other international travel is already on the cards very close to those dates. So fab fashion week… you’ll just have to wait till next year for miss kahuna to grace her presence! Watch for media about our fabulous gal pal Bec Cooper though… she’s pushing the limit’s with her sexy bikinis.
Sydney Design Show
We’ve just returned from the Sydney Design show which we took place within the Reed Gift and Homewares Show in late February. I stayed at a fabulous little boutique hotel which was out of the way but I loved the Thai bath products and stunning designer bathroom. My favourite things while travelling… I ate Thai food nearly every night as it was in China Town and a very authentic Thai restaurant was downstairs.
Our next Design show will be in Melbourne in August 2009.
New Stockists… thank you Australia for our growth
Even in tricky times, I am very thankful for the support of our lovely customers. We brought many new stockists of the Kahuna Bay label in February and March. We now have stockists in Perth, Adelaide, and more in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. We have a new stockist expected for Cairns shortly!
Gold Coast Designer Market
I packed up my car and headed to the Gold Coast Designer markets held at Burleigh Heads State school the 1st Sunday of every month. Kahuna Bay was at two markets, one in March and one in April selling a few one off’s from end of season ranges to Gold Coast locals who grabbed a bargain.
I’m thinking there has to be a better way than packing up my car to off load old ranges… ideas? I’m thinking maybe a morning tea or something may suit us more. If your local to the Gold Coast or Brisbane and are interested in joining a mailing list for end of lines parties please e-mail me…. firstname.lastname@example.org.
But, I will say this… the GC Designer market run by a local girl duo is pretty cool. There are some very cool new labels there and its a very funky crowd with eye catching fashion.
Yes the website…
Mmm after I got the bright idea the website needed updating and an even better idea to hire a fab guy from New Delhi off Guru.com … a couple weeks into it the site was down and all the content deleted. My lovely friend seems to have “accidently” installed a new version over the top of our old version… and all of our content was deleted. Mmm exactly a girls worst nightmare almost. This just shows we’re only human… or are we dancers? So… of course being one to always find the positive and see an opportunity I decided to put on a smiley face and just get to work. So thanks for your patience waiting for all our content to appear again, including product images. Also, if you were a customer previously your going to have to re-create your login… so oh so sorry! xx
The brand developing more…
I can thank Danny Haworth a dear friend from the USA who is helping me with the Kahuna Bay branding and imagery across the web and through our promotional material. Check out his new website which is pretty cool and groovy about getting an odd job…
Here is a sneak preview of what Danny has done for us so far… We are in the process of getting a new “skin” for the site as well.
Well winter has seem to have hit the Gold Coast, and our favourite beach is seriously rained out.
Happy island dreaming!
